Cameroonian Forest & Communities Threatened By US Company

Greenpeace has undertaken an information-sharing tour amongst communities who will be affected by the Herakles Farms project. The meetings have shown that a majority of village residents knew little of the devastating impact the project could have on their land, livelihood and local environment. The prior informed consent of local residents who, will be affected is a standard precondition for any company undertaking a large-scale land deal in Africa. Herakles Farms has failed to conduct a sufficient process in this regard.

Adolf Ngbe Ebong is the regent of Babensi 2 Village in South West Region Cameroon. The village borders Talangaye, with whom it shares a common border. The area is at the heart of the area Herakles Farms is trying to convert into a palm oil plantation comprising 73,000 hectares.
