Digital Content Coordinator

Greenpeace Africa is an environmental campaigning organisation with offices in Southern, West, East and Central Africa. The organisation is currently seeking to employ a Digital Content Coordinator to join the Digital Unit within the Engagement team and will be based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The P4 content coordination is a key role within the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Greenpeace's new engagement platform, Planet 4. Your main focus is to present Greenpeace content in a simple, straightforward manner so that it appeals to supporters.

To achieve this, you will have to collect, coordinate, rewrite and remix content to make it shorter and more engaging for the Greenpeace website, using appropriate tone and attitude documentation to help Greenpeace online content.

Job specification:

  • Write Greenpeace web content to create interest for site visitors, including but not limited to: "evergreen" institutional pages, campaign blogs and publications. 

  • Rewrite blogs and articles to facilitate consumption 

  • Support campaigners and content producers in creating content

  • Write best practices 
documentation 

  • Collect, edit and write content in 
coordination with the Legal Unit 
  • Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure created content accurately represents Greenpeace issues and campaigns 

  • Recommend SEO compliant

Preferred Qualification(s)

  • National Diploma or Degree in Communication, Marketing, and Web design, Content Management, Web mastering or similar qualification.

Preferred Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a website content manager.
  • Social and technical skills for online, distributed and multicultural environments 
  • Experience using code (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) 

  • Experience with Word press 

  • The candidate must be bilingual and fluent in both written and 
spoken English and French 

  • Experience in Markdown 

  • An active contributor to the open source web
