Alberta Oil Spill in Photos

Greenpeace is calling on the Alberta government to release all the information it has on the Rainbow Pipeline following the leak of 4.5 million litres of oil and in light of a spill of 1 million litres from the same pipeline in 2006. Greenpeace climate and energy campaigner, Melina Laboucan-Massimo, a member of the Lubicon Cree First Nation, is in Little Buffalo bearing witness to the response to the spill and the impact on the community, including members of her family. The worst Alberta oil spill in 35 years has dumped about 4.5 million litres of oil into a wetland area at Evi, Alberta, near the community of Little Buffalo in Lubicon Cree First Nation traditional territory in the Peace River region. Rainbow Pipeline is owned by Plains Midstream Canada, a Canadian subsidiary of Houston-based Plains All American Pipeline L.P.
