480 organisations call on EU Parliament to reject EU-US trade deal

Publication - July 5, 2015
This open letter was sent to members of the European Parliament ahead of a vote on 8 July that will affect forthcoming negotiations on an EU-US trade agreement.

483 organisations from across Europe, including trade unions, consumer groups, environmental and civil rights organisations, have called on EU decision-makers to protect citizens, workers and the environment from the threats posed by the EU-US trade agreement (known as TTIP - Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership).

Signatories warned that TTIP could constrain democratic decision-making by strengthening the influence of big businesses and undermining public services, the protection of public health, the environment, and workers' rights.
