Greenpeace exposed the telecom sector’s dirty energy usage. It then asked the market leader Bharti Airtel to reveal its carbon footprint and stop using dirty diesel. Over 90,000 people asked Bharti Airtel to ‘switch off diesel’ from its telecom network towers. When they did not respond, Greenpeace activists blocked the entrance of the Bharti Airtel group’s headquarters and unfurled banners with the message “Airtel- Switch off Diesel.”
