Decentralised renewable energy has achieved what extensive coal-powered centralised energy system has not. This 100 kWp stand-alone solar photovoltaic power plant at Tangtse, Durbuk block, Ladakh is located at 14,500 feet AMSL in the Himalaya. The plant supplies electricity to a clinic, a school and 347 houses in this remote location, for around five hours each day. Renewable energy is clean and sustainable and it has the potential to power our homes.
