Management structure

Greenpeace International's role in the global Greenpeace network is to facilitate the development and agreement of the network’s future direction, support the national and regional offices and ensure alignment by developing processes and providing mechanisms.

The International Executive Director (IED) is currently a shared leadership role with two incumbents. They are responsible for the management of Greenpeace International (GPI) and the leadership of the global network (of Greenpeace organisations), and manage the GPI Strategy and Strategy and Management Team (SMT). The SMT reports to the IED.

The GPI Strategy and Management Team (SMT) consists of the International Executive Director, International Development Director, International Finance Director, International Operations Director, International People and Culture Director, International Programme Director, International Technology Director and the Global Engagement Director.

The International Development Director (IDD) leads and manages organisational process to keep the Greenpeace global network together and stronger and works to ensure the continual growth and development of the individual National Regional Offices.

The International Finance Director is responsible for the development and application of Greenpeace’s global financial framework and strategy, GPI's finances and global financial systems.

The International People and Culture Director enables the development and implementation of the global People and Culture strategy, and oversees Global HR, Learning & Development, GPI People and Culture, Facilities and the organisation’s Integrity Project.

The International Operations Director provides cross-functional and strategic leadership to the actions, ships and investigation units.

The International Programme Director is responsible for the development of programme strategies and its alignment across the world to defend important environmental boundaries for a healthy ecosystem. The strategies must aim to provoke systems change for the long term by changing mindsets and power dynamics.

The International Technology Director is tasked with strengthening Greenpeace's technology strategy, championing innovation and developing products, platforms and tools (mainly digital technology) to maximise the impact of Greenpeace’s campaigns and engagement activity.

The Global Engagement Director is tasked to catalyse a billion acts of courage from our supporters through the development of a cohesive and coherent supporter journey and facilitates strategy and planning, storytelling and communications, NRO support and global engagement.
