David is from Reefton, New Zealand.

David and his partner Sarah have a three-year-old, with another expected to arrive early in 2014.

David has spent all his life in rural New Zealand enjoying the outdoors lifestyle working as a electrician, in various industries.

While working in Port Nelson, in 1999, he was introduced to Greenpeace and shortly after joined the Greenpeace ship 'Rainbow Warrior' as an electrical engineer. He has worked on countless campaigns whilst sailing for the past 13 years, some of which with his partner Sarah. He always returned to his land of birth, and to the lifestyle and family he enjoys. He is a committed activist. This is David's fourth journey to the Arctic aboard the Arctic Sunrise. He is one of the most learned and experienced of her crew.
