12th November. Activists unfurl a banner reading: Coal Kills. Acid Ponds Ingredients: Mine Waste, Heavy Metals Produced by: Arutmin, at the Asam-asam Coal Mine in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. The area is scarred with toxic settling ponds, used by the coal industry. The activists also surround the pond with 'Caution: Toxic Water' tape. Greenpeace is calling on the provincial and national government to stop the coal industry poisoning the water sources and local environment that communities rely on.
