I've been an activist with Greenpeace for 30 years. In that time, I've delayed a nuclear weapons test, hung a banner on the Statue of Liberty, sailed on four oceans, lived in six countries, saved whales and learned to pilot a hot air balloon for the cause. I was setting up email communications with alligator clips in Moscow in the mid 1980s, online activism websites in the early 90s, and jumped all over twitter when it debuted at SXSW in 2006. As an early adopter, I learned how to spot technologies Greenpeace might bend to activist purposes and organizational needs, and developed some skills in getting them adopted.
