A photo competition to save the climate? Why not? We all have a voice and we want our voice to be heard and our message to spread. A picture is worth a lot of words, grab your camera and tell us a story!

HOW to compete ?

  • Take a Picture 
  • Describe it in 80 word max (where it was taken and how it relates to the topic)
  • Send it to  
  • Do not forget to mention the name and surname of the person who took the photo. 


WHAT do I shoot ?

  •  The photo competition aims to identify photos, images or creative ideas that advocate a transition from fossile energy such as coal energy, nuclear etc. to renewable energy resources. The photos should help to re-imagine energy production and illustrate how the exploitation of coal might have a bad impact on the things we care most about in our day-to-day life.

  • Photographs must be in digital format, We aim at max. 42 megabytes or smaller, in JPEG or JPG format, and at least 1,600 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 1,600 pixels tall (if a vertical image). If you shoot analogue b/w or in colour we are happy to receive your picture in scanned format. We also are open for any digital smartphone photography such as  VSCO supports.


WHEN does it happen ?

The contest consists of three rounds stages.

  1. Sending and Evaluation  - 24/04/15 - 15/06/15
    when recived, your photo will be evaluated to check if it corresponds to the technical, and topical criterias.

  2. Publication - 17/06/15 - 30/06/15
    your picture will be uploaded on the Greenpeace Luxembourg Facebook page and will be open for public voting (through “like”) for one month.

  3. Selection - 01/07/15
    the Judges (representatives of Greenpeace and photo experts, tbd) will select a winner from among the photos obtaining the most votes from the public.

The winner's name will be available online on our web page after 20 June 2015

WHO can participate?

YOU. The photo competition is open to a wide public of Professional and Non-Professional/Amateur photographers.

WHAT can I win?

The first place winner will be invited to join us at the end of the UN Climate Change Conference UNFCC COP21 in Paris at the end of the year. Additional prizes may be established for other photos such as getting their pictures into the official Greenpeace database.

CONDITIONS : By entering, contestants agree to have the photographs that they submit displayed on the Greenpeace website/Facebook page and/or used in the context of the campaigns, without any fee or other form of compensation.
