International waters, 25 November, 2011 – Activists from the Greenpeace ship Esperanza have demonstrated against tuna vessels operating illegally in an area known as the Pacific Commons (1) near Indonesia.

Pacific Ocean, 15 November 2012 – Greenpeace International has uncovered a large-scale illegal transfer of fish at sea between one ship from Cambodia, one from the Philippines and two from Indonesia in the Pacific Commons.

Greenpeace is urging the US and fishing nations to agree to bold measures to protect Pacific tuna, at a vital meeting in Honolulu this week.

Greenpeace is calling for global support for a Cook Islands plan to close off a large area of international waters (1) to all fishing in order to restore Pacific tuna fisheries, protect biodiversity and eliminate pirate fishing.
