Hey all! Awesome so we just announced our March against Mining for May 1st lower queen st. at 11am!  My name is Matt and I’ve been part of the Greenpeace fundraising team for a year now. I have the opportunity to talk to hundreds of people every week and I can tell you that people are mad about the proposal to open up New Zealand’s schedule 4 land for mining It has been so refreshing to be out promoting the fact that we’re doing something about it and everyone can be a part of it.

I have had nothing but positive encounters over the last couple of days and people are getting amped about the march.  It’s such a good time for all of this to be going down! The New Zealand Government is completely disregarding everything Kiwis want with the mining; what’s up with that?! I am from the U.S of A so I am quite used to the American government ignoring me, but is that really what you want here in NZ?

From the response so far on the streets of Auckland I think that is a resounding NO! Good on you! I expect all of you to not only be there on May 1, but to get involved. We're distributing heaps of  flyers, sticking up heaps of posters, hanging banners from motorways, running around with mobile billboards and sandwich boards and putting in lots of volunteer hours… but we need your help! The more the merrier. See here if you want to lend a hand.

We have two weeks to make sure everyone knows that the mining plans are not ok. We need people to get out of their houses and voice their frustration by marching up Queen Street and saying to the Government this is not the direction we want for our country. Governments hate it when people get out of their homes and take to the streets.  What can they do to stop it?  Make this march and the promotion of it a priority, I promise you, you won't regret it - this is about saving NZ!

Thanks and see you there!!!!

Matt
