A Pacific white-sided dolphin drowned when it tangled in a monofilament driftnet in the North Pacific, August 1990. Driftnet fishing is an unsustainable fishing method which kills thousands of dolphins and other non-target marine species. Although the nets are now banned, Greenpeace continues to confiscate driftnets being used illegally.
