A minke whale is cut up into manageable chunks of meat on the deck of the Nisshin Maru in the Southern Ocean, February 1995. The whalers claim that this is “scientific research” though the whale meat is sold commercially. In 2008 Greenpeace exposed embezzlement and corruption in the Japanese whaling programme.
