2008 Annual Review

December 31, 2008

In 2008, the Esperanza travelled up Australia's east coast to promote its Energy [R]evolution report, which showed how Australia could make a transition to renewable energy. The ship then travelled to Papua New Guinea, to document the extent of illegal logging in the region and highlight the contribution logging makes to climate change. We also launched the award-winning Origami whales online petition, a new Truefood Guide and continued to put pressure on the federal government to quit its addiction to coal.

2007 Annual Review

In 2007, Greenpeace Australia Pacific turned 30. And we haven't slowed down a bit. This year, we used a beached ship to highlight climate change and gathered 130,000 voices calling for an end to whaling. We shut down a polluting power station and took our first action in Port Moresby to save forests.
