Greenpeace board member, Adam Blakester.

Adam's work spans environmental, social, corporate and government sectors with a focus on sustainability and human wellbeing. This work includes the New England Sustainability Strategy, Solar New England Region Project, The Long Paddock, Keepit Region Aboriginal Community Employment Strategy and Sustainable Living Expo (Armidale).

He has been a member of the Greenpeace Australia Pacific General Assembly since 2004, following six years on staff – initially Finance and Administration Manager and later Interim Communications Manager. Adam worked on the global repositioning process that influenced Greenpeace's massive global networking strategy, developed the long range financial sustainability model and defended Greenpeace's Australian charitable status from political attack.

With qualifications originally in commerce and taxation law, Adam brings strong business and organisational acumen and has worked for KPMG, UNE, Trans Media Group and Rural Press. More recently Adam’s work and study include social change, leadership, community psychology, consciousness, human development and wellbeing.

Previously, Adam was CEO of the Australian National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN) facilitating significant shifts in their work and positioning that resulted in a dozen new education campaigns and community programs and a tenfold increase in the size of National Child Protection Week over a four-year period.

Adam is Chair of the Minerals Policy Institute, Treasurer of the Antarctic & Southern Ocean Coalition, Sydney Leadership alumnus and member of the Great Transition Initiative, Vibewire Advisory Council and Wellbeing Australia Steering Committee.
