Lynette Thorstensen is the group head of sustainable business practices at Insurance Australia Group (IAG).

Lynette's role at IAG spans community engagement, community partnerships, corporate social responsibility and sustainability.

IAG published its first sustainability report in November, 2004, released as a companion document to the Annual General Report. Since then, IAG has been rated as one of the top 10 corporate social responsibility companies in Australia, by Reputex. In 2006, IAG was announced at Davos as one of the top 100 sustainability companies in the world, one of only two Australian companies listed.

Lynette’s career has spanned the community, government and private sectors. She is a former CEO of Greenpeace Australia and a former coordinator of Greenpeace International's climate change campaign, based in Amsterdam. She has remained passionately committed to Greenpeace and, like many former campaigners, is quite unable to get the organisation out of her blood.

Lynette worked for three years in the Premier's Department, New South Wales, as director of social development and environment. In this role, she oversaw a large number of "whole of government" partnerships on behalf of the premier.

Lynette is also a board member of the Sydney Community Foundation. She is a mother of two young children and tries to lead a sane and balanced life!
