David Prosser first became involved with Greenpeace because of his concerns with the proposed testing of US nuclear weapons in the Aleutians Islands off Alaska.

His first donation was to an organisation called “Don’t Make a Wave” and it helped to purchase a boat that soon set sail for Alaska.

According to David, since those days Greenpeace has spread its wings to cover a lot more. “Greenpeace was originally formed for the nuclear testing. We always contribute to it because if it wasn’t for Greenpeace who else would be looking after the world.”

David was in New Zealand when the French Government bombed the Rainbow Warrior. “I was absolutely outraged. I’ve never forgiven the New Zealand government for letting those French criminals off. We went to the port the day after and the Rainbow Warrior was lying with the side torn open.”

David first became environmentally aware through his parents. “I think concern for the environment has to start at home and has to begin with parents when children are as young as two or three years old.”

“I want to leave a world as good as I found it when I was born for the next generation.”
