In December 2007, one of our most dedicated and inspiring volunteers Beatrice Harris passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Bea was an institution - in the best sense of the word - and was universally loved and admired.
An inspiration to all working to protect the environment, you could often find Bea with a bag of vegetable scraps she’d brought from home to add to our worm farm, or out and about in a Greenpeace t-shirt protesting on the frontline.
In 2005 in recognition of Bea’s tireless dedication for over 12 years working in our Communications team, a Greenpeace inflatable was named The Queen Bea by staff and volunteers.
So next time you see an inflatable in one of our activities, it could be The Queen Bea!
