Dr Lena Aahlby has 25 years experience in developing, leading and coordinating global campaigns aiming at creating public awareness and driving change, primarily within the international not-for-profit sector.

She is an expert in improving programme outputs in challenging environments, by focusing on actions to increase positive impact, developing people, building capacity in organisations and building leadership skills.

Lena has worked across a broad range of subjects from environment, nature conservation and natural resource management to health, poverty reduction programs and women’s rights. Between 2003 and 2008 she was the International Program Director of Greenpeace International, and has also been Campaign Director of Greenpeace Sweden and Greenpeace Australia Pacific in addition to leading a number of Greenpeace international and regional programmes, including being climate coordinator for Greenpeace US. She is currently director and founder of a strategy and training consultancy for NGOs, “Strategy for Change”, and is also campaign director for ActionAid in Australia.

Lena has served on a number of not-for-profit Boards.


Born in Sweden she has lived and worked in several countries. Since the mid 90’s she calls Australia home.
