Types of information we collect
Generally, the type of information Greenpeace collects about you is the information included in your application or resume, for example, your name, mailing address, telephone number, e-mail address, career history, details of any competency tests or other information relating to your career.
Information collected during the course of the interviewing process such as interview notes and assessment results.
How we collect your personal information
Where practicable Greenpeace will collect personal information from you. We may collect personal information about you when you deal with us by telephone, fax, e-mail, or visit our web site.
There may be occasion when we obtain personal information about you from a third party; for example, from your nominated referee; when receiving the results of a competency test; or obtaining performance feedback about your work. If we don't have your prior consent, we will take reasonable steps to inform you that we have collected personal information.
Use and disclosure of your personal information
Personal information provided to Greenpeace by applicants will be used by Human Resources during the course of the recruitment and selection process. The information will often be distributed internally to the relevant manager and selection panel that is involved in the particular recruitment activity. The information will be treated in the strictest confidence and will not be distributed outside the organisation.
How long is the information kept?
Once the recruitment and selection process is complete the information will be held and stored in a secure location in the Human Resource Department. Resumes and related information of unsuccessful applicants will be kept for a period of 3 months, after which time it will be shredded.
However, if your application is unsuccessful, there is also the option of us keeping your information longer so you can be considered for other future vacancies. In these circumstances, we will notify you and give you an opportunity to indicate your preference.
It is our policy not to sell any personal information.
Gaining access to information we hold about you
Access to the personal information Greenpeace hold about you will be provided unless granting access would infringe another person's privacy, or is not required by or under law.
We will require you to verify your identity yourself. A fee may be charged for providing access. We will advise you of the likely cost in advance.

Correction to information held about you
If you believe that information we hold about you is incorrect, or if you have concerns about how we are handling your personal information, then we ask that you contact us and we will try to resolve those concerns.
Security of your personal information
Your personal information may be stored in hardcopy or electronically. Greenpeace have security procedures in place to protect your personal information.
Updates to the policy
This policy will be reviewed from time to time to take account of new laws and technology, changes to our operations and practices and the changes to the business environment.
