Duncan has been an Oceans Campaigner based out of our Suva office in Fiji since 2009 . He is responsible for policy research and development, planning and managing projects and political lobbying towards sustainable and equitable fisheries in the Pacific.
He is currently focused on promoting sustainable and socially responsible small-scale tuna fisheries such as handline and pole and line fishing as well as combating Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing in the region.
Duncan’s greatest campaign achievement was the closure of 4.5 million square kilometers in the south pacific, in January 2010, to purse seine fishing, bringing us one step closer to achieving our target of 40% global marine reserves.
“Working at Greenpeace I have learnt to be a chameleon – one day you’re trying to convince decision-makers to adopt sustainable and equitable fisheries policies and the next you’re confronting monster fishing boats with banners and paint. its awesome!”
His love for the ocean ventures outside office hours and he spends much of his spare time surfing, sailing and canoeing.
