Queensland Community Campaigner
Louise is the friendly face of Greenpeace in Queensland. She brings to Greenpeace several years experience as a journalist with ABC News and environmental policy.
Louise today works from Brisbane where she raises public awareness of climate change, the dangers associated with coal industry expansion, and threats to the Great Barrier Reef. She works in partnership with local environmental activists and groups up and down the Queensland coast to end coal port developments inside the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Area.
Her current focus is on galvanising support to stop the effects of the Galilee Basin mines and the drastic effects it would have on global climate change when the coal is burnt.
Louise’s proudest achievement was being part of the team that stopped broadscale land clearing in Queensland, which in the early 2000s was destroying half a million hectares of bushland every year.
“I'm passionate about doing whatever I can to rein in Australia's greenhouse gas emissions, especially by tackling our biggest contribution to climate change: our growing coal exports.”
