We can’t let Abbot Point in the Reef World Heritage Area become another Gladstone

Gladstone, located near the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, is the location of one of two new industrial sites approved by our government this week.

The Greenpeace Esperanza ship visited Gladstone earlier this week during our ‘Save the Reef’ tour from Brisbane to Townsville, during 6-16 December. We spoke with local residents concerned at what further industrialisation of their hometown could mean to their lives and livelihoods.

These ‘before and after’ images of Gladstone Harbour to demonstrate some of the effects dredging has had on local water quality.
