Revealing the true contents of our food. The Greenpeace Truefood Guide lets Australians avoid GM at the supermarket.

Each year, Greenpeace produces a guide rating food brands on their non-GM policies and suppliers. We’re working to get Australia’s biggest brands to stay GM-free.
Success
Most Australian food brands are committed to sourcing non-GM ingredients. For the first time this year, chip-makers Snackbrands Australia (think CC's, Samboy, Cheezels and Thins) and Aussie pantry favourite SPC (Goulburn Valley, IXL, and Ardmona) joined the throngs, and pledged to only use non-GM in their products.
Improving our food labelling laws
Australian consumers have overwhelmingly rejected GM foods, but Australia’s labelling laws still aren’t strong enough. We’re working to close GM labelling loopholes so that we all have the right to choose what we eat.
Success
The Greens and Senator Nick Xenophon have introduced a bill to parliament for truth in food labelling to fix Australia’s lax food labelling laws.
Exposing GM wheat
Multinational chemical companies are targeting Australia as the first country in the world to grow GM wheat. While most people don’t want to eat GM breads and cereals, few people know that GM wheat is on the horizon. The reality is we are being deliberately left in the dark. Greenpeace is exposing GM wheat trials. We want Australians to have an informed choice over the future of our food. Read the Wheat scandal report and watch the video. Showcasing sustainable agriculture
Sustainable farming can provide valuable solutions to drought and produce 30% more food per hectare. Greenpeace is working to increase research and funding into sustainable alternatives and showcase farming methods that don’t cost the earth. Australian farmers deserve the right to choose what they grow. Greenpeace is calling for the introduction of farmer protection legislation in all Australian states so that farmers who don’t want to grow GM don’t have it forced upon them.
