Database Volunteer

We are currently seeking a dedicated volunteer to join the Database team and contribute to an organisation that is actively defending the environment from destruction!

Division: Organisational Support

Reporting to: Database Manager

Location: Sydney

Commitment: 2 days per week, for 3 months (with option to continue)

About the role:

Greenpeace is a not for profit campaigning organization, working to put a stop to environmental abuse, and to promote environmental solutions. As Greenpeace has a policy of not soliciting funds from corporations or governments, we are reliant on the support of individuals for all the funds to carry out our environmental campaigns.

Our supporters are very important to us and our database is a key tool in maintaining the Greenpeace funding base and ensuring that our supporters are kept up to date with our work.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Database Volunteer who will assist the Database Manager, Database Developer and Data Analysts with the data flows on Raisers Edge, ensuring data integrity, and the general maintenance of our database. This could be the perfect opportunity for you to gain valuable work experience and contribute to an organisation that is actively defending the environment from destruction. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Database Maintenance:

-      Trouble shooting and problem solving

-      Database security including adding and maintaining users

Database Integrity:

-      Assistance in maintaining a duplicate free database

-      Identify database integrity issues and help to create processes to ensure integrity of the data

-      Help to identify sources of data integrity issues and implement measures to prevent their recurrence

-      Assist in creating strategies for cleaning data to improve contact rates with GPAP constituents by mail, phone, SMS and email

-      Assist with the implementation of the data cleaning strategies developed by the Database Manager

Data Provision:

-      Assist the team in providing internal and external stakeholders with accurate data required to perform their various duties in a timely and efficient manner as directed by the Database Manager.

-      Understand objectives and KPI’s of stakeholders in order to ensure data selections are devised appropriately

Systems Improvement:

-      Participate in reviewing database systems related processes

-      Show initiative in identifying areas where improvements can be made to database related functionality and processes to enable stakeholders to better meet their objectives and KPI’s

Reporting and Analysis:

-      Assist in producing reports on the progress of Fundraising and other organizational programs, in order to facilitate strategic decision making

-      Provide analysis of report results and recommend changes to existing strategies to better facilitate the meeting of stakeholder objectives and KPI’s.

General Duties:

-      Other various duties as deemed helpful and useful to the Database team.

Supporter Relationships Volunteer

We are currently seeking a dedicated volunteer to join the Supporter Relationships team and contribute to an organisation that is actively defending the environment from destruction!

Reporting to: Supporter Relationships and Retention Manager

Location: Sydney

Commitment: 1 day per week, for 3 months (with option to continue)

Closing date: Midnight Wednesday 24 June 2015.

About the role:

We are currently seeking a dedicated volunteer to join the Supporter Relationships team and assist with general administrative duties. This could be the perfect opportunity for you to gain valuable work experience and contribute to an organisation that is actively defending the environment from destruction. We highly value and support our generous volunteers and the effort that they make for our cause.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Process all RTS mail and update the database
  • Assist in preparing and packing letters to be sent to supporters
  • Action and respond to emails requiring non-financial details in our database to be updated
  • Provide data entry assistance when leads for new supporters are received offline (e.g. entering a petition signature given at a stall or GP event into the database)
  • Assistance with any other projects as requested by the SR Manager.

Unit Operations Officer

Volunteer to gain unique and valuable experience with the world’s largest environmental organisation!

About the role:

A volunteer opportunity exists to work within the Actions Unit of Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP). The Actions Unit is a dynamic team which is responsible for planning and delivering GPAP actions, activist coordination, skills development and training, and management of the GPAP warehouse and campaign equipment. The role is for 2 to 3 days per week (this is flexible) and time will be split between the office in Ultimo and the warehouse in Botany. The position would suit someone who is looking to gain experience working in a fast-moving team environment.

All of our volunteers work closely with the manager to gain valuable experience and skills.  We expect a high standard of commitment, professionalism and a positive attitude from our volunteers.  In return we organise a work-station, regular catch-ups with the other volunteers and the opportunity for further training.

Tasks:

  • Attend Action Unit weekly team meeting, and prepare, distribute and follow-up meeting notes, action points
  • Review and maintain Action Unit calendar
  • Maintain Intranet content; organise external meetings; draft contracts for external contractors and facilitate signing by contractor, sponsor and HR
  • Ensure invoices are raised and processed for external contractor contracts
  • Process Actions Unit invoices, expense claims, Mastercards, advances
  • Summarise invoice, expenses and Mastercards costs
  • Be familiar with finance policies, processes, expense and project codes etc and Actions budget and codes
  • Maintain and enhance Warehouse equipment booking system
  • Champion Actions Unit content/knowledge management including Box/Google Drive structure, document storage etc.

 

 

Warehouse Assistant

Volunteer for an organisation that is impactful with its campaigns and stops environmental destruction.

About the role:

A volunteer opportunity exists to work within the Actions Unit of Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP). The Actions Unit is a dynamic team which is responsible for planning and delivering GPAP actions, activist coordination, training, and management of the GPAP warehouse and campaign equipment. The Warehouse Assistant volunteer role is for 2-3 days per week (hours are flexible).

This is an essential role to assist the Actions Unit in the management of the warehouse, its equipment and the implementation of GPAP’s campaigns as they pertain to the Actions Unit.

All of our volunteers work closely with the manager to gain valuable experience and skills. We expect a high standard of commitment, professionalism and a positive attitude from our volunteers.  In return we organise a work-station, regular catch-ups with the other volunteers and the opportunity for further training.

Tasks:

  • Helping with campaign and actions related logistics as requested
  • Assisting with scheduled monthly maintenance work on actions equipment, boats, climb equipment, vehicles
  • Helping with the preparation and implementation of actions specific training, this will include inflatable boats, climbing and NVDA trainings
  • Help clear out old inventory stock and organise space and systems for equipment
  • Setting up the database and assist the beginning of the process of building a comprehensive actions equipment inventory
  • Keep the warehouse in a clean, tidy and usable state
  • Working closely with other volunteers to finish projects and meet deadlines
  • Helping to prepare and implement campaign materials and campaign activities
  • Administration.
