Legal Research Assistant

1 day per week for a minimum of 8 weeks

The Legal Research Assistant will be working with the Legal Advisor on Financial Market Regulation from Greenpeace International to review and analyse financial regulations internationally, working across several Greenpeace Offices in the Pacific on challenging the fossil fuel industry.

Tasks:

  • Researching market regulations
  • Case notes of key environmental decisions from across the world
  • Liaising with experts in the field
  • Company analysis and research
  • Reporting and analysis of market trends
  • Drafting legal research reports

Key Skills or Experience:

  • Attention to detail
  • Sound legal analysis
  • Ability to think creatively within the constraints of the law
  • Commitment to Greenpeace and our core values

The position is ideal for law students who are interested in achieving environmental protection in creative and interesting ways through the law. Additional knowledge of finance and/or energy would be an asset.

Supporter Relationships Assistant

1 day per week until the end of December required ASAP.

The Supporter Relationships Assistant will be working within the team responsible for providing warm, friendly, informed and energetic interaction with Greenpeace’s financial and non-financial supporters, and the general public. The Supporter Relationships Assistant will be primarily responsible for updating non-financial supporter information.

Tasks:

  • Process all Return to Sender mail and update the database
  • Assist in preparing and packing letters to be sent to supporters
  • Action and respond to emails requiring non-financial details in our database to be updated
  • Provide data entry assistance when leads for new supporters are received offline (e.g. entering a petition signature given at a stall or GP event into the database)

This opportunity would suit someone who is keen to help with administrative tasks to enable the Supporter Relationships team better engage with our wonderful Supporters. Perhaps a student, someone looking to transition back into office work after some time out, or a retiree.

 ​Web Development Assistant

Volunteer with fundamental knowledge in web development required to assist our Web Master/Developer 3 days per week for a minimum of 3 months. 

Tasks:

  • Develop/build dynamic web contents.
  • Re-build/update existing web contents.
  • Give support to other staffs that relates to web development.

Key Skills or Experience:

  • Knowledgeable on PHP, Python, MySQL, Javascript, JQuery, HTML5 and CSS3
  • Understanding on MVC framework, Responsive and Adaptive Design
  • Commitment to Greenpeace and our core values
  • Understanding e-commerce, payment gateway
  • Reliability

Desirable But Not Essential

  • Python/Django framework
  • Wordpress

This position would suit a student or graduate with the above core skills looking to gain more experience.

Investigations Assistant

2-3 days/week for a minimum of 8 weeks, applications welcome, positions arise periodically

Tasks:

  • Data/information retrieval from disparate information sources including:
  • Industry/ government publications
  • Scientific literature
  •  Databases
  • Advanced web searches
  • Processing and collating this information using tools such as spreadsheets and possibly databases
  • Presenting research outcomes in reports


Key Skills or Experience:

  • Methodical approach to research
  • IT literate (advanced but not programing) eg  Excel
  • Patience
  • Science/ engineering background or aspirations preferred
  • Willing to do repetitive or time consuming research tasks for campaign (there will be fun bits too!)

This position is somewhat flexible and would suit a variety of applicants with the position tailored to their individual skill set.
