Human Resources Volunteer 

Responsible to: Human Resources Coordinator

Status: Volunteer (unpaid)

Commitment: 1 – 2 days per week, 3 month contract

Overall purpose of the role

The Human Resources (HR) Volunteer is responsible for providing the full spectrum of HR administration services in Greenpeace's Sydney office. They will support the HR Coordinator to implement, manage and execute various HR functions including recruitment and selection, staff training and development and social/cultural activity/event planning.

Main responsibilities

  • Actively search and develop new and more efficient ways to recruit the right staff needed in the best timing
  • Conduct HR related research and produce reports
  • Assist in social activities and planning.

Competencies

  • Interpersonal relationship skills, in particular building constructive and long-term relationships with all parties involved in the job
  • Innovation, in particular considering the ‘cutting-edge’ core value of Greenpeace
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • HR qualifications (desired)
  • Excellent computer literacy.

Social Media Volunteer        

Volunteer Placement with Greenpeace Australia Pacific (Unpaid) 

About the role:

Greenpeace currently has an opportunity for several volunteers to assist us in our current fundraising activities. Greenpeace requires volunteers to engage with potential supporters and promote the Greenpeace brand through social media channels and the wider web. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to develop their skills and knowledge in digital engagement while working for a great cause. Please note there is a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week for 3 months (with option to continue)

 This role involves:

  • Engage on GPAP social media channels with other social media users to encourage them to donate, take action or promote the cause through their own networks
  • Identify and engage in online conversations outside of GPAP’s social channels that have potential for generating leads to our website and donations
  • Identify and engage with online influencers to amplify messages, expose particular campaigns or make a call to action
  • Collaborate on optimisation projects and tests as requested by Supporter Relationships Manager
  • Collate feedback from supporters to report back on campaign issues
  • Track levels of engagement and interaction data and report back to Manager

About You:

We are looking for individuals with excellent written and verbal communication skills. They should also possess the ability to multi task and manage time effectively. Experience and/or knowledge in online communications, social media and its associated software is essential. High level computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, online tools and software) are also highly desirable. Above all we are looking for enthusiastic, team players who can communicate with passion, inspiring supporters and the public about Greenpeace’s work to protect the planet.

 Warehouse Assistant

Volunteer for an organisation that is impactful with its campaigns and stops environmental destruction.

About the role:

A volunteer opportunity exists to work within the Actions Unit of Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP). The Actions Unit is a dynamic team which is responsible for planning and delivering GPAP actions, activist coordination, training, and management of the GPAP warehouse and campaign equipment. The Warehouse Assistant volunteer role is for 2-3 days per week (hours are flexible).

This is an essential role to assist the Actions Unit in the management of the warehouse, its equipment and the implementation of GPAP’s campaigns as they pertain to the Actions Unit.

All of our volunteers work closely with the manager to gain valuable experience and skills. We expect a high standard of commitment, professionalism and a positive attitude from our volunteers.  In return we organise a work-station, regular catch-ups with the other volunteers and the opportunity for further training.

Tasks:

  • Helping with campaign and actions related logistics as requested
  • Assisting with scheduled monthly maintenance work on actions equipment, boats, climb equipment, vehicles
  • Helping with the preparation and implementation of actions specific training, this will include inflatable boats, climbing and NVDA trainings
  • Help clear out old inventory stock and organise space and systems for equipment
  • Setting up the database and assist the beginning of the process of building a comprehensive actions equipment inventory
  • Keep the warehouse in a clean, tidy and usable state
  • Working closely with other volunteers to finish projects and meet deadlines
  • Helping to prepare and implement campaign materials and campaign activities
  • Administration.
