The continued push to introduce GE crops is a result of the undue influence of corporate, political and economic interests on science and agriculture.

Biotechnology companies are attempting a corporate take-over of the entire food chain. The World Trade Organisation, led by the USA, plans to bully more countries into accepting GE seeds, GE crops and unlabelled GE foods.

As consumers, we do not stand to benefit from GE foods: the technology is not necessary and it is not wanted. Farmers, especially those in developing nations, have already lost out because of subsidies and tarrifs.

Industry and government often use the argument that GM 'will feed the world'. However, it is unequal distribution of food that keeps millions hungry: the result of landlessness, unemployment, debt repayments, war and above all poverty.
