By December 2008, the world had just one year to agree how to stop the climate crisis. The next step was UN climate talks in Poznań, Poland, 1-12 December, 2008. A lot was hanging on these talks. Unfortunately, our world leaders didn't rise to the occasion.

The UN climate talks in Poznan, Poland ended with little progress made. Greenpeace campaigners in Poznan reported that the Australian delegation refused to talk, refused to commit, refused to act. Their silence was deafening. Just days later, the government announced a pitifully low emissions reduction target of only 5%.
