Jamie Durie launches the 2009 Good Wood Guide.

Key Australian timber retailers have signed a joint statement to stop illegal timber imports from the Paradise Forests of PNG, Indonesia and Solomon Islands.

The Good Wood Joint Statement aims to eliminate illegal forest products in Australia. It calls on the Rudd government to halt the importation of illegally logged timber from nearby countries like PNG, Indonesia and Solomon Islands.

Jamie Durie, landscape designer and horticulturalist, bestselling author and television presenter, recently launched the updated Greenpeace Good Wood Guide. Jamie's business, Patio, is just one high-profile company that has signed the Good Wood Joint Statement: Eliminating Illegal Forest Products in Australia.

Othe Joint Statement signees include major national retailers like Fantastic Furniture, Bunnings and Ikea, as well as conservation organisations and the Building Designers Association of Australia.
