Protecting forests, saving our climate

From August to October 2008, Greenpeace ship, the Esperanza, toured Papua New Guinea and Indonesia, protecting the Paradise Forests to save the climate.

Greenpeace's "Forests for Climate" ship tour to Indonesia aims to highlight the catastrophic impacts of deforestation for palm oil, logging and other industry expansion, on the global climate, biodiversity loss and forest-dependent people. Papua is the last frontier of intact ancient forest in Indonesia. August 2008: Greenpeace has launched our Forests for Climate tour with a colourful welcome in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Our ship, Esperanza, is touring the region protecting forests and showing how deforestation contributes to climate change.
