There are
many ways to take personal action on climate change. Cutting
back on red meat consumption will help reduce the
greenhouse gas emissions that result from livestock farming. It has
been reported that Greenpeace is calling on people to substitute
farmed livestock meat with kangaroo meat. This is not the case. It
is not Greenpeace policy to advocate eating kangaroo meat.
While reducing personal greenhouse emissions is a positive step, we will need action at an individual, government and industrial level to seriously address climate change. It is essential that
Australia's state and
federal governments commit to policies that will reduce the nation's
greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. Greenpeace is
encouraging Australians to join
The Big Switch campaign and call for effective government action on climate change.
