Australia — December 5 is International Volunteer day. We would like to say a big thank you to all of our volunteers who once again played a critical role in the success of our campaigns and the strength of our organisation.

Across the region, our volunteers worked tirelessly helping to promote our clean energy work and launch our 2005 whales campaign.

They also played a huge role in the success of our Rainbow Warrior open boat days in NSW, VIC, SA and WA, and assisted with running many Greenpeace events such as our presence in the annual City to Surf in Sydney.

Across Australia and the Pacific, our volunteers ran workshops to design and paint peace flags, inspiring thousands of people to attend Hiroshima commemoration events to speak out against nuclear weapons. And, in our offices throughout the region, our volunteers turned up daily to lend a vital helping hand.

Without the commitment and support of our volunteers, Greenpeace would not have the capacity to do the work that we do. Our volunteers bring with them the spirit and dedication required to secure a green and peaceful future.

"Therefore, on behalf of everyone at Greenpeace Australia Pacific, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the thousands of passionate individuals who have donated their time and their talent to help us in our work. You are an inspiration to us all," says Greenpeace Australia Pacific acting CEO Claire Mallinson.

"Congratulations on such a mammoth contribution! We are excited about next year and look forward to stirring up some more planet saving action. We are humbled by the opportunity to work with such an awesome bunch of humans. You all ROCK!" Greenpeace volunteer coordinator Claire Blakester, and National local group coordinators Anne Nunn and Stacey Nelson.
