Sydney, Australia — Today Greenpeace launched a new online 'virtual gift' shop called Greenpeace Giving. The shop has many remarkable gifts for the environmentally conscious shopper who wants to give back to the planet.

    The Greenpeace Giving online gift shop is at http://www.greenpeacegiving.org.au

Greenpeace mass mobilisation manager Nick Moraitis said, "Our online gift shop contains all kinds of virtual gifts that symbolise Greenpeace's work in winning environmental campaigns.

"You can buy a friend a virtual gift that will help stop climate change, halt logging in an ancient forest or even save a whale.

"By giving a special gift from our range, you are giving someone the power to make a difference. Think of it as environmental activism without the giftwrap."

Some of the online gift donations include:

    * Protection for one Paradise Forest tree under threat from deforestation in South-East Asia and the Pacific;
    * One share in a portable sawmill, to empower communities in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea to manage their own forests and reject industrial loggers;
    * Protect the vulnerable Pacific yellowfin tuna species;
    * Sponsor a Greenpeace ship captain for a day, to help Greenpeace disrupt Japan's whale hunt in the Southern Ocean;
    * Help fund peaceful direct action training for a Greenpeace activist;
    * Provide valuable legal advice for an activist in India.

With every donation the recipient receives a greeting card, together with a message about how their present will contribute to saving the environment. Prices start at $10 and are tax deductible.
