Australia —
The 100-strong Greenpeace team successfully completed the Sydney City to Surf fun run yesterday, headed by actor Toni Collette and her husband, musician David Galafassi.
“I had a great day and was proud to walk for Greenpeace,” Ms Collette said.
Other famous faces walking or running for Greenpeace included Tony
Wheeler of Lonely Planet, who came first out of the entire Greenpeace
team, and Julian Morrow and Chas Licciardello of ABC TV's CNNNN.
The team relaxed after the race at Bondi Beach Public School, enjoying
GE-free salads and a chance to rest weary muscles. Three masseurs in
attendance remained busy for most of the afternoon.
Greenpeace Special Projects Coordinator Holly Wheeler said, “We would
like to extend a big thank you to all of our sponsored runners and
walkers, whose efforts to help Greenpeace protect the environment are
much appreciated.
“Thanks also to those people who couldn't enter the event but showed
their support for the Greenpeace team by calling 1800 815 151 and
making a sponsor donation,” she said.
This is the first year Greenpeace had an official team in the City to
Surf, something which is likely to become an annual event on the
Greenpeace calendar.
It's not too late to support the Greenpeace team. Call 1800 815 151 to make a donation.
