Australia — Frontliners are a vital aspect to the way Greenpeace operates. Without these people the organisation would struggle to be what it is today.

A Frontliner is a person out on the streets inspiring and empowering people to make a difference by financially supporting the ongoing campaigns of Greenpeace.

Claire Tofler is just one of these amazing people, having joined with the Adelaide team five years ago.

"I have had the opportunity over the years to reach out and touch so many people's hearts and minds, to change attitudes and communicate solutions and impart the urgency with which we need to act to save this planet," Claire said.

Every person that becomes a supporter makes a huge difference to the effectiveness of the organisation and is the backbone of Greenpeace's work.

Claire decided to join the Frontline team because of the organisations' courage, integrity and commitment to exposing environmental problems.

"When the opportunity to work for the world's most effective environmental organisation came along I just jumped at the chance," she said.

Some people may assume that it can be awkward to ask complete strangers for money. However Claire believes that supporters are the heart and soul behind every environmental win because they provide the financial independence for Greenpeace to keep the campaigns going.

"I have never felt I am taking something away from someone but giving them an incredible opportunity to make a difference!"

If she wasn't working for Greenpeace she'd most likely be doing something that involves humanitarian or social change issues.

"I haven't heard from Michael Moore lately but if he rang me up to ask me to work on his next film, I wouldn't say no."
