Europe turns off nuclear power

John Howard welcomed in the New Year with a big cheer for dangerous nuclear power. Meanwhile, Europe acted responsibly by decommissioning seven nuclear power stations, the most ever in one day.

Nuclear transport through Sydney streets

Around midnight last night, a secretive shipment of radioactive nuclear waste moved through Sydney streets. Greenpeace took action, alerting residents to the danger racing through their neighbourhoods.

Nuclear power industry a failure

Safety fears: Sweden shuts down nuclear plants

Sweden has shut down four of its 10 nuclear plants. Major faults were discovered after a serious incident at the Forsmark nuclear power station. A former director of the plant later said, "It was pure luck there wasn't a meltdown."
