Victory Jabiluka!

Victory Jabiluka!

International — In a historic victory for the environment and indigenous rights, the Northern Territory government has approved plans to clean up the Jabiluka uranium mine in Kakadu National park.

The government today approved a proposal by Energy Resources Australia to seal the mine and remediate the surrounding land.

The Jabiluka campaign has been one of Australia's longest running environment and indigenous rights struggles.

A peaceful blockade at the site in 1998 lasted eight months and involved over 5000 people and 500 arrests.

A huge thankyou from all of us at Greenpeace to those that have been involved in this great victory.
