Australia — The controversial go-ahead for a second reactor in Sydney has sparked outrage in Argentina, too. A deal between the Australian and Argentine governments allows Argentinian company INVAP to build the reactor, while Australian nuclear waste is exported to Argentina. But there's a catch. The Argentinian constitution prohibits the importation of nuclear waste.

More than 3000 protesters took to the streets in Argentina, among them the residents of Ezeiza, Buenos Aires. Their town has been targeted for a nuclear waste dump and processing facility. The protesters, including union members, teacher and consumer organisations and environmental groups, spoke as one when they cried, "We don't want nuclear waste. We will resist!"
