International — "All ships all ships, specifically Pacific Pintail and Pacific Teal. This is Love of Gaia, Love of Gaia, Love of Gaia. This is a message from the Nuclear Free Seas Flotilla. Please be aware that there are ten sailing vessels in international waters between Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands…peacefully bearing witness to your transport of dangerous nuclear cargo and representing the opposition of many thousands of people around the world. We had anticipated your passing our vessels during daylight hours but on present information it would appear that you will pass us in the night. If this is the case, in the interests of maritime safety, we would appreciate confirmation that you are aware of our presence. Do you copy?"

The Nuclear Free Seas Flotilla received no reply from either of the two nuclear ships carrying 255 kgs of weapons-usable plutonium through the Pacific, despite the opposition of many enroute countries.

An eight hour inflatable boat chase through the Tasman sea in the dead of the night ensued. Finally, at dawn, two activists successfully delivered a message of protest to the two armed nuclear freighters.

Ian Cohen, NSW MP, and Stuart Lennox of Tasmania, were dropped into the water in near the shipment and held up a banner reading "Nuclear Free Pacific" as the two ships passed.

Said Henk Haazen from the Nuclear Free Flotilla, "We may be ten boats but our strength is that we carry the wishes and demands of many thousands of people. It is pretty clear from the plutonium shippers avoidance tactics overnight that they are scared to face public opinion. However, they will not be able to avoid the growing public and government pressure building against them from Japan all the way to the Irish Sea to stop this insane business."
