Papua New Guinea — Hear the remarkable song of the bird of paradise.

This audio was recorded by Sep Galeva, a landowner from Lake Murray, PNG. These colourful birds are called panda (pronounced pun-da) in the local Kuni language. They gather to sing and dance in the morning and evening. Sep’s people, the Kuni, use bird of paradise feathers in their headdresses. Says Sep, "It is used for the ranking of chiefs. You can’t be a chief without this bird."
Note: This audio is brief but quite loud.
