I'm concerned about Australian forests / I'm looking for information on logging in Australia.

The Wilderness Society is leading the work to save Tasmania's forests. Greenpeace and The Wilderness Society have worked together to protect Tasmania's Styx Valley. Greenpeace campaigns globally to protect ancient forests. In this region, we use our reach and capacity to focus on the Asia Pacific Paradise Forests.  The Paradise Forests are being destroyed faster than any other on Earth.

I'm shopping for timber furniture and want to make sure I don't buy timber from illegal or unsustainable logging operations. What should I do?

Use the Greenpeace Good Wood Guide to help you find ecologically sustainable timber products.

I'm building/renovating and want to ensure I don't source timber from illegal or unsustainable logging operations.

Use the Greenpeace Good Wood Guide to help you find ecologically sustainable timber products.

Are there particular timbers I shouldn't buy?

Use the species search in the Greenpeace Good Wood Guide to find out whether your chosen timber is okay to buy. The Good Wood Guide also lists alternative timbers for some species. In general, we suggest that you purchase timber and timber products that are either recycled or certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). If a retailer can't provide a good wood policy or verification that timber is not coming from illegally or unsustainable logged timber – don't buy it!

I have an assignment on forests around the world and need some information.
