As the temperature rises, Himalayan reservoirs of ice disappear. Scientists predict that 80 per cent of these glaciers will disappear within 30 years with current warming rates.
In 2007, an
expedition set out to take comparison photographs from an anchor point left by an earlier expedition by the Chinese Academy of Sciences of 1968. Ironically, the second expedition's route to the anchor point was hampered by debris from a huge landslide where a glacier had once been.
