Wednesday 9 April 2008, Hunter Valley, NSW: At dawn this morning the
Greenpeace hot air balloon flew over Liddell and Bayswater coal-fired
power stations in the Hunter Valley, delivering a spectacular climate
change message to the federal government: ‘Save the climate - No
future in coal’. The balloon, flown by an experienced hot air balloon
pilot, floated above the smoke stacks of the power stations with its
urgent call for climate action just days before the deadline for
public submissions to the ALP’s much debated Garnaut Review.
