The future is smiling on wind power. The industry is growing fast, by 28 per cent a year. Clean, abundant and fuel-free, wind power will eventually become cheaper than coal. Wind energy has huge potential in Australia and could supply 34 per cent of the world’s electricity by 2050, says a report by the Global Wind Energy Council and Greenpeace. The report is an industry blueprint that explains how wind power could save 1.5 billion tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2020.
