In March 2008, Greenpeace commissioned a Newspoll survey of 1200 Australians about federal subsidies to energy providers.

Key results of this poll include:


  • 90% of Australians want to see renewable energy given the same as or more government subsidies than fossil fuels receive

  • 78% of Australians are unaware that fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) receive a lot more subsidies than renewable energy.
