Greenpeace submission to House of Representatives Standing Committee on Science and Innovation inquiry into geosequestration technology.
The use of geosequestration in Australia would result in, at best, a cumulative emissions reduction from 2005 to 2030 of only 2.4 percent. Modestly increased energy efficiency, based on the efficiency potential assumed in the Government’s 2004 Energy White Paper, could -- at zero or even negative cost -- decrease cumulative emissions by twice as much.
