South Australia is the driest state within the driest inhabited continent on the planet and climate change will only make the situation worse.
Climate change will mean a hotter, drier climate with droughts, floods, bushfires and more extreme weather events that will affect our ecosystems including agricultural production in areas such as the Murray Darling Basin. In fact, the Murray Darling Basin has been identified as one of the regions most susceptible to climate change and it is estimated that the River Murray could lose the equivalent of four times South Australia’s annual water use with the onset of climate change.
