In Australia there is very little information about persistent organic pollutants (POPs) in marine mammals.

POPs are some of the most destructive types of pollution because they stay in the environment for a long time and have the capacity to build up in the food chain. They concentrate in species at the top of the food chain like humans and dolphins.
