Unless you are independently wealthy (half your luck!), you will need to raise funds to bring your campaign plan to reality.

Once you have sorted out your campaign strategy, you can make a budget plan to discover what your campaign will cost.

Creating a budget

Your budget should be a running list of costs for every objective. Doing a budget is a great way to break your objectives and strategy down into achieavable actions. You may even want to use a spreadsheet program which automatically adds columns of figures.

Your budget should allow for the following:

  • materials (eg, if you are planning a direct action, you may need paint for banners or costume hire)
  • travel expenses
  • accommodation costs
  • research costs
  • equipment hire
  • mailing costs
  • internet-related costs
  • stationery
  • venue hire if you are holding an information session
  • any other costs for items you cannot beg or borrow!
Once you have a budget, you can start thinking about how to raise the funds.
